Individual therapy for adults
Individual therapy is a type of therapy that is typically one-to-one between a therapist and a client. Psychotherapy, or counselling, allows individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings with a trained mental health professional, who is guided by a number of theoretical principles and approaches. Individual therapy provides clients with a unique opportunity to form a therapeutic relationship that is safe and positive. Most individual therapy relies on talk therapy although some therapy is conducted using expressive modalities, like art, music, or drama therapy. The goal of most therapy is to help clients identify and resolve a wide range of relational, social, or psychological problems, whether they are long-standing or have emerged suddenly or a result of an immediate crisis situation.
